Dear PandwaRF users,
You may be familiar with a very popular product of the PandwaRF family: the PandwaRF Marauder. It has been developed for activities requiring a discreet capture of RF data, typically keypress of key fobs (alarms, cars, gate openers…).
This blog post will guide you through the steps of capturing data using the Marauder.
1. Turn on your Marauder
2. Open the PandwaRF Marauder app and connect your smartphone to your device
3. Go to the Config tab and set all the capture parameters
- Customize the frequency of the signal you aim to capture or choose one from the list.
- Set the modulation type of your target. Key fobs are mostly built with ASK/OOK modulation, or less often in 2-FSK.
- Set the sampling rate:
- If you have a Marauder v3, set the sampling rate value. If the sampling rate is way higher than the data rate, activate RX compression option.
- If you have a Marauder v4, choose « Auto » so pulses are captured as durations.
- Set the RSSI Threshold to trigger the start of the capture. Choose a low value such as -80 dBm and increase it if you have too much noise in your capture.
- Use RF power amplifier to amplify the target’s signal.
- Enable Stealth mode if you want your Marauder to be invisible to Bluetooth scans nearby (Marauder Ultimate only)
- Once all the parameters have been set up, press the Start capture button to start the capture. You can now disconnect the app from the Marauder.
The Marauder device will start scanning for signals corresponding to all the RF parameters that were previously configured. When receiving data, the green LED should turn briefly on.
You can then retransmit the captured data directly from your Marauder, or download the captured data into the app, analyse it using Kaiju or the PandwaRF Rogue app, generate new rolling codes, etc…
Happy data capturing!
