You may already know that, but shipping something to Russia is a real pain. It really hurts and we discovered it recently…
Transporters were reluctant to take our shipping orders and warned us that it was going to be difficult, but we wanted to try anyway.
First of all, shipping to private individuals in Russia is restricted as any shipped item will be inspected by customs, and blocked if the accompanying documentation is missing, there are not enough administrative papers etc.
So we needed to ship to a company, and we managed to do this with the help of our customer.
So we accepted the order and shipped to Russia…
Bad idea. The order was blocked by Russian customs and sent directly back to us.
Best of all, they asked us to pay if we wanted to get our item back !
So we examined even more carefully the restrictions set by Russian customs authorities and decided it wasn’t worth it to spend this amount of time and risk for such a low chance of success.
We cannot afford losing each item we ship to Russia so from now on, we decided we will not ship to Russia anymore unless we find a local distributor who can handle the administrative hassle for us.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.
